Martell committed to Washington as an eighth grader, a decision and process the Bishop Gorman quarterback explained to USA Today‘s Nicole Auerbach.

The head coach to whom Tate Martell committed then, Steve Sarkisian, was in the mix for the quarterback’s pledge once again at USC. However, Sumlin adds an heir apparent to 5-star 2015 signee Kyler Murray (who is the heir apparent to current Aggies starter, Kyle Allen).

Tagovailoa is a product of St. Louis, the same Honolulu high school that produced Marcus Mariota. And, wouldn’t you know, Oregon is in the mix for the 4-star, dual threat quarterback.

For a brief moment in time, Moscow, Idaho, was the center of the college football world. For a long-struggling program like Idaho, that means either something remarkably great or remarkably awful went down. This was the latter.

The above-linked column by Moscow-Pullman Daily News sports editor Michael-Shawn Dugar paints the picture of a head coach, frustrated by a 2-21 record over the last two years, letting that frustration boil over on the few people who give much attention to Idaho Vandals football.

Paul Petrino and Idaho athletic director Rob Spear called an afternoon press conference, which instead became a brief statement without media, to apologize. Or refute Dugar’s claims. Or both.

Petrino and Spear apparently took umbrage with Dugar’s use of the word “restrained” to describe an assistant redirecting Petrino amid a tirade.

The “press” conference seems to have exacerbated the situation. To wit:

Coaches yell. It happens. Some players need that kind of coaching for motivation. A 5-star recruit like Rosen, who’s been told he’s Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck since middle school, just might need such fuel now that he’s at a higher level.
