6. Trevone Boykin, QB, TCU
The presumptive Heisman front-runner coming into 2015 padded his stat sheet in Week 2 after a pedestrian (for him) Week 1. Trevone Boykin threw four touchdowns and spread the ball among seven Horned Frogs at least twice. He was also intercepted by Stephen F. Austin.
It’s still early, and with nine Big 12 games ahead, Boykin has plenty more opportunity to reemerge as the No. 1. His play last year is largely keeping him in the Top 10 for 2015, but look for two big-time opportunities to stack up impressive statistics in the coming weeks.
Boykin faces SMU Week 3 and Texas Tech Week 4.
5. Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU
A new addition to the Heisman Top 10, Leonard Fournette burst into 2015 with a dynamite performance in Saturday’s nightcap. He scored all three of LSU’s touchdowns in a 21-19 win at Mississippi State.
Fournette pounded Mississippi State for 159 yards, using his durable frame to carry Bulldogs for around 50 yards after contact. Equally impressive is his speed, which netted over 100 yards before first contact.
Any way you slice it, Leonard Fournette is a beast of a back, and worthy addition to the Heisman Top 10.
